N. Narayana Giri, 35, committed suicide Sunday at his house in Kottalanka in Mummidivaram mandal of East Godavari district.

His relatives told police that he was upset over the defeat of PRP in assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Giri, father of three children, consumed pesticide. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.

Chiranjeevi’s party won only 18 seats in the 294-member assembly while it lost in all 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

The actor has already appealed to his supporters not to be disheartened by the defeat and take it positively. He has vowed to rebuild the party and overcome the weaknesses after a thorough analysis of the results.

The 53-year-old actor, whose film career spans over three decades, launched PRP in August last year.
