New Delhi : German Chancellor Angela Merkel has congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his Congress party’s decisive victory in the elections and lauded him for his “well-balanced politics” and diplomatic skills.
In her telephone call Tuesday, Chancellor Merkel emphasised Manmohan Singh’s role in his party’s victory in parliamentary elections, German federal government spokesperson Ulrich Wilhelm said in a statement.
“She attributed the clear mandate of the people to the well-balanced politics with which Dr. Singh represented the interests of the entire population of India, as well as the high international regard he earned in dealing with global challenges,” the spokesperson said.
The two leaders agreed to continue their close cooperation on issues ranging from climate change and global financial crisis.
