Student fails CBSE maths paper, commits suicide

Noida: A student, who had failed his class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) mathematics examination, committed suicide Friday by getting run over by a train, police said Saturday.

Amit Bansal, a resident of Dadri near Noida, was a class 12 student of the Sunshine Public School and left his home at 6.00 a.m. to see his result on the Internet. When he found out that he had obtained only 22 marks in mathematics, Bansal walked on to the rail line near Dadri railway station and lay on the tracks as a fast-moving goods train was approaching.

His body was recovered by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. The police identified him as the son of local politician Harbir Singh Bansal, a resident of Escort Colony in Dadri, said Superintendent of Police (Greater Noida) S.K. Verma.
