Bhubaneswar : Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pradip Amat was Monday elected as the new speaker of Orissa legislative assembly, an official said.
The three-time legislator from Orissa’s Boudh assembly constituency was elected uncontested as no other candidate was fielded by any political party against him.
The BJD had own 103 seats in the 147-member assembly in the 2009 poll.
