“He is visiting Jammu for a day on Nov 4,” state Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla told IANS.

Apart from reviewing the security situation, the home minister would visit Jagti on the outskirts of Jammu city where an ultra modern satellite township is coming up for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit migrants.

“Chidambaram wants to have first hand assessment of the progress of the relief and rehabilitation effort,” Bhalla said.

The visiting minister will also interact with some of the leaders of the Kashmiri Pandit community, which migrated from the Valley en masse, after some members of the community were killed by militants.

This will be the minister’s second visit to Jammu and Kashmir in less than a month. He was in Srinagar for two days in October to review the security situation and had also invited “all shades of opinion” for talks – which was described as a positive development by the separatists and others.
