Kochi: The Kerala State Waqf Board decided to give loan scholarships to Muslim students doing professional courses. One hundred students doing professional courses like medicine, engineering and others would be selected for the scholarship. The decision was taken in the meeting of the board held in the office in Kochi on Thursday.
Loan scholarships will be allowed for those students bagging high marks in the qualifying exam. The 100 scholarships will be distributed among the students pursuing different professional courses in the following order: MBBS – 36, B.Tech – 36, BDS – 13, BAMS – 4, BHMS – 1, BSc Nursing – 10.
Waqf Board chairman KV Abdul Qader presided over the meeting. KE Ismail, MP, Adv TK Saidalikkutty, MC Mayin Haji, Adv PV Sainudheen, PP Abdurahman, N Ali Abdulla, Adv KA Hassan and Muhammedali Valancheri (members) were present. Chief Executive Officer BM Jamal also attended the meeting.
