Girls school near Peshawar blown up

By IANS,

Peshawar : Unidentified militants blew up a girls school in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber tribal region Tuesday, the third such attack in the area bordering Afghanistan this month. There were no casualties.

An intelligence official in the area said the Taliban attacked the government-run school

overnight when no one was on the premises.

“The girls middle school was badly damaged because of the explosion. Now, the school

building is almost out of use. The classrooms, desks and chairs were also damaged,”

Online news agency quoted Farooq Khan, a local administrative official, as telling a private TV channel.

The incident took place at the Yousaf Kely village near Bara town, around 20 km south of the North West Frontier Province capital Peshawar.
