New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested a domestic help for looting cash worth Rs.350,000 from a house in Vasant Vihar, south Delhi on the night of Nov 19, an official said Saturday.
Mahesh, along with three of his associates, allegedly fled with cash and precious idols.
“Within 24 hours of the sensational robbery in Vasant Vihar we solved the case with the arrest of Mahesh, the domestic help of the house and three others,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said Saturday.
On the night of Nov 19 three men entered into the house of Suman Ratra and asked for money at knife point. They forced her to open the cupboard and searched the house. Then they tied her hands to the cupboard, gagged her and fled with the cash and other valuable articles, including metal idols of Lord Radha and Krishna.
“During investigation the role of the domestic help Mahesh, who was also present at the time of the incident, came under the scanner. On interrogation Mahesh broke down and confessed his involvement in the crime,” said Dhaliwal.
“Mahesh was employed in the house for the last two-and-a-half years and was aware of the large movement of cash in the house. With the help of his associates he planned the robbery when Ratra’s husband and son were out of Delhi,” Dhaliwal added.
The three other accused were identified as Manoj, Rajender and Bhagirath and were arrested from Majnu ka Tila in north Delhi.
