Muhammed Abdurahman Sahib was the unquestioned leader of the Indian National Congress during the freedom struggle in Kerala. He was born in Kodungallore in central Kerala and fought actively for the freedom of the country. He was educated at Chennai and Aligarh. He worked for the development of the Muslim community and tried to make them more patriotic and nationalistic. He was reverently called ‘the lion of Kerala’, ‘the bold son of Kerala’ and ‘Bhagath Sing of Kerala’. He began a newspaper titled ‘Al Ameen’ in 1924 which fought for the freedom of the country in the field of the media. Sahib led the Salt Satyagraha in Kozhikode in 1930.
