Raipur: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was critically injured Tuesday in a bomb blast in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district hitfor years by Maoist violence.
The trooper, who was member of a police combing team, was injured when he stepped on a pressure bomb planted in a thickly forested pocket, some 500 km south of state capital Raipur.
“The CRPF jawan was injured in both his legs and was rushed to hospital where his condition was stated to be very critical,” Vishwa Ranjan, director general of police, told IANS.
In another incident in neighbouring Bijapur district, a search team of CRPF and Special Police Officers (SPOs) killed a Maoist guerrilla, he added. Police recovered some ammunition and Maoist literature from the hideout where the rebel was killed.
