374,500 holders of Malaysian red identity cards

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : The Dewan Rakyat (Lower House) was told Monday that the number of Malaysian red identity card holders as of September this year was 374,500 people.

They included 64,731 people who were born in the country, Deputy Home Minister Wira Abu Seman Yusop said in response to a question by Tan Tee Beng (PKR-Nibong Tebal).

He said the Malaysian red identity card holders according to states were 12,000 people in Sabah, followed by Selangor (11,307), Perak (6,589), Johor (5,509), the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (4,906), Kedah (2,822), Penang (2,209) and Pahang (1,981).

In Negeri Sembilan, there were 1,947 people, Kelantan (1,295), Melaka (789), Sarawak (771), the Federal Territory of Labuan (653), Perlis (326), Terengganu (307), Putrajaya (17) and others (11,303).

“The red identity cards are issued to non-Malaysians who are permanent residents in the country,” he added.
