Mumbai : A key Indian equities market index opened in the green Thursday and was ruling about 94 points higher than its previous close, about five minutes into trade.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened higher at 16,908.02 points and, five minutes into trade, was at 16,901.04 points, 94.38 points or 0.56 percent higher than its previous close at 16,806.66 points.
The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also in the green at 5,010.3 points, up 0.49 percent from its last close.
Broader market indices too opened strong, with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.71 percent up, while the BSE small cap index was trading 0.64 percent higher.
