Chennai: AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa Tuesday announced the party’s executive committee and general council will meet here Oct 28.
The meeting assumes significance in the light of PMK snapping its ties with the AIADMK and the Communist parties announcing that their tie up with AIADMK is only an electoral one.
PMK and the two Communist parties fought the Lok Sabha elections in May under the leadership of AIADMK. However, in the recent by-elections for five assembly seats, the two communist parties contested despite the AIADMK and its other allies like PMK and MDMK deciding to boycott the poll.
Jayalalithaa has recently returned here after spending four months in Kodanadu.
