“Attacks on Indian students around Melbourne’s railway stations are continuing, with three young men robbed and bashed as they walked home Thursday night,” The Age reported Saturday.

The attack occurred as the men were walking home from Sunshine station along Anderson road about 10.30 p.m.

The students were approached from behind by four to six men near the Derby Road Reserve.

The offenders confronted the students, demanding their wallets and phones, police said.

One of the victims, a 26-year-old from Sunshine, handed over two mobile phones and then fled from the scene.

The remaining two victims were then assaulted by two of the offenders and had their phones stolen, the media report said.

A 24-year-old man from Sunshine received injuries to his head, while a 27-year-old man suffered soreness to his upper body in the attack.

There has been a spate of attacks on Indian students here, causing an uproar in India. Canberra had assured New Delhi that the safety of the students would be taken care of.
