Amritsar : A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in Sultanwind area of this Punjab city Saturday night, police said Sunday.
According to residents of the area, the police were initially lax in registering the case but relented after they surrounded the police station of the area.
However, the delay gave ample time to the accused, Tarsem Lal, to flee and he was presently absconding, the residents said.
The medical examination of the victim was being conducted, the police said.
