Kuala Lumpur : More than 30 international and regional speakers are expected to present their views on Islamic banking and finance at the sixth Kuala Lumpur International Islamic Finance 2009 (KLIFF 2009), which will be held here from Nov 2 to 6.
Among them are Sheikh Nizam Yaquby, a syariah scholar from Bahrain, A. Rushdi Siddiqui, the global director of Islamic Finance at Thomson Reuters, Dr Aznan Hasan, the syariah adviser of Malaysia’s central bank, Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, the chief executive officer of the International Institute of Islamic Finance, and Yusli Mohamed Yusoff, the chief executive officer of Bursa Malaysia, operator of the Kuala Lumpur stock exchange.
The KLIFF 2009 secretariat said in a statement here Tuesday that Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had agreed to officiate the KLIFF’s main forum on Nov 3.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nor Mohamed Yakcop will be guest of honour at KLIFF Islamic Finance Awards while Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah will officiate KLIFF Syariah Forum 2009.
Deputy Finance Minister Senator Dr Awang Adek Hussein will deliver the keynote and official opening addresses for the Takaful (Islamic insurance) Rendezvous 2009 Forum and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will be the guest of honour at the dinner and present the awards.
Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will attend the dinner as a special guest to receive an award from Malaysian Takaful Association.
The KLIFF 2009 is being organized by the Centre for Research and Training in collaboration with the Malaysian Takaful Association, law firm Messrs Hisham, Sobri & Kadir and the International Institute of Islamic Finance.
