Nepal, India to hold Home Secretary level talks in November

Kathmandu, Nepal : Nepal and India are set to hold Home Secretary level talks here early next month to discuss matters relating to cross-border crimes and cooperation in security.

Nepalese Home Secretary Govinda Kusum and Indian Home Secretary G K Pilli are scheduled to meet in Kathmandu on Nov. 6 and 7, according to Home Ministry sources here.

During the meeting of the Bilateral Mechanism between the two countries, Nepal will ask for India’s cooperation in controlling criminal activities taking place in the troubled Terai region, a Home Ministry official said.

India is expected to raise the issue of criminal and terrorist activities in the border as well as routing of the fake Indian currency during the meeting, the official said.

Nepal has recently introduced Special Security Policy in southern plains of Terai to control the increasing activities of armed groups.
