“Five motorcycle-borne Maoist rebels looted a state irrigation department office at Jhargram sub-division this (Friday) afternoon,” Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Surajit Kar Purakayastha told IANS.

He said one of the armed Maoists was caught by the locals and later handed over to police. Four rebels fled from the scene with the money.

In another incident, the Left-wing guerrillas set a forest department outpost on fire in the wee hours Friday in Shilda forest near Binpur in the district.
