Lucknow : A senior Indian Railway Service (IRS) official was arrested here Saturday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly accepting a bribe from a contractor, officials said.
K.M. Tripathi, chief regional manager in Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), was arrested at his official residence while receiving the bribe of Rs.70,000, the CBI alleged.
“The contractor had registered a complaint against Tripathi that the officer takes bribe for awarding catering contracts,” a CBI official told reporters.
“Acting on the complaint, we laid a trap and caught Tripathi along with the bribe,” he added.
A team of CBI officials is still carrying out raids at Tripathi’s residence.
