Kozhikode: The Kerala Haj Committee has received 6954 passports as the last date for the submission of passports by those selected for Haj from the state ended yesterday. The Committee had selected 7238 people for Haj from 42, 000 applicants.
The selection was held in three phases. Among the 7238 pilgrims, 7000 were selected in the first phase by taking lots and 140 from the waiting list. The rest 95 are those who could not offer the Haj pilgrimage last year as their visas were not got in time.
Those who have been selected for the Haj and are now abroad need submit their passports only by September 20. They should submit their passports at the Central Haj Committee office in Mumbai..
The Haj flight service begins on October 20. The Hajis from Kerala will be taken for Haj via Madeena this year. The vaccinations for Hajis will be available in District and Taluk hospitals from September 20 onwards.
