She directed the Public Works Department (PWD) and civic authorities to gear up and make all roads under their jurisdiction smooth as per well-defined standards in view of the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG).

Chairing a review meeting to take stock of condition of Delhi’s dilapidated roads, the chief minister asked the agencies to chalk out their action plan by September-end so that phase-wise implementation could be monitored.

“Dikshit decided to personally take round of different roads on daily basis to get apprised of changing condition of the roads and un-attended deficiencies,” said an official statement here.

The chief minister also said accountability should be fixed on the engineer concerned to check any lapse in maintenance of roads, and also directed senior engineers to inspect roads under their jurisdiction regularly.

The implementation of action plan will start from October and be personally monitored by Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta who will brief Dikshit daily.
