Family of accused moves court against airing of narco tests

Kochi : The family of one of the accused in the murder of Sister Abhaya Wednesday moved court against 17 media organisations for airing the narco-analysis tests conducted on her.

Mathew Joseph, brother of Sister Seffi, filed a petition at a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here against both print and television organisations.

The video clips of the narco-analysis tests done on the three accused in the murder case were aired Sep 14. The court will now take up the petition Oct 5.

The body of Sister Abhaya, a resident of Pius X Hostel, was found in the well of the Kottayam convent March 27, 1992.

The first accused in the case is Thomas M. Kottor, who was the diocesan chancellor of the Catholic Church at Kottayam; the second accused is Jose Putarika, a former professor at the Kottayam College where Abhaya studied; the third accused is Seffi, a resident of the convent when the incident took place.
