Two arrested, gold worth over Rs.10 mn recovered

Ghaziabad: Two people were arrested in Ghaziabad Monday and jewellery worth over Rs.10 million stolen from a shop in Karol Bagh area of the national capital recovered from them, police said Monday.

Pappu Behra and Bappi Kumar, both residents of Orissa, were arrested from from NH-24 area of Indirapuram during routine vehicle checking.

During interrogation, the two revealed that they had run away with a huge quantity of gold jewellery from Karol Bagh area of Delhi on Sep 25, Rahul Srivastava, circle officer of Indirapuram area, said.

“Behra worked in the showroom of Govinda Kaur in Karol Bagh area and had run away with jewellery and other items. We have recovered 11 gold sets, a gold brick and other jewellery from their possession. The jewellery is estimated at over 780 grams,” Srivastava told IANS.
