CBI Special Judge Darshan Singh convicted sub-inspector Ved Parkash of accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from Harpal Singh alias Raju in 2007 after threatening to slap false cases on him.

The quantum of sentence in the case would be announced Wednesday.

Raju, a former student of Panjab University, is currently in jail as he was caught with 3.5 kg heroin and one kg smack by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) a few years back.

According to CBI officials, Raju filed a complaint against Ved Parkash, who was the then in-charge of Sector 61 police post, in June 2007. Following this, the CBI laid a trap and arrested Parkash while accepting the bribe in cash.

Raju has been booked in at least seven different cases of violating various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
