Patna: While Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (JD-U) has claimed to work for betterment of Urdu Language in the state – where it is second official language – his ruling partner BJP has been disproving the claim. After state Finance Minister Shushil Kumar Modi (BJP) cut 33% of the aid to Bihar Urdu Academy in the current budget, Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Tara Kant Jhan (BJP) has now removed the posts of Urdu reporters in the Council.
It should be noted here that ex-chairman of the Council Professor Jabir Hussain (RJD) during his tenure took some good steps to implement Urdu as a second official language in the Council. For that Dastavez and Rudad in-house Urdu newspapers were started that contained happenings in the Council and two reporters were appointed. But soon after Tara Kant Jhan took the charge as Chairman of Legislative Council, he first ordered to stop the publication of Dastavez and Rudad. Now he dismissed the two reporters and removed the posts.
Many Muslim organizations and political and social leaders have expressed their anger over this decision and said that when Urdu is facing discrimination in Legislative Council then how it would be given justice in other places.
