Sreedharan stable but not to be discharged

New Delhi : Delhi Metro chief E. Sreedharan, who has suffered a cardiac arrest, is stable but would not be discharged from hospital yet as his vitals are being monitored, doctors at the Apollo Hospital here said Thursday.

Sreedharan was Wednesday scheduled to board a flight for Kolkata but he developed uneasiness in the chest and was rushed to hospital.

“He is fine. His condition is far better and he is recovering but he will not be discharged,” senior cardiologist S.K Gupta told IANS.

Gupta, who is treating the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official, said: “Sreedharan is being monitored by a team of multidisciplinary doctors. We will have to watch over him for sometime and monitor his vitals before he can be discharged.”

Sreedharan revolutionised the national capital’s transport with the rapidly expanding network of the Metro, work on which started in 2002. He is also lauded for his stint as head of the Konkan Railways under the railways ministry.
