Silent March in Azamgarh to press for Batla House encounter probe

Azamgarh: A silent procession lead by Dr. Javed Akhtar, President AWMELA was taken out on Friday at 2pm. The march started from Paharpur Tiraha and ended at Collectorate (D.M’s Office) Azamgarh. Maulana Intikhab Alam, Imam Jama Masjid along with other Imams of different mosques graced the occasion by their presence. Participants included people from all walk of life namely, Doctors, Teachers, Lawyers, Students and Businessmen. They were holding banners and placards with slogans like “Batla House Encounter Fake – Who says? National Human Rights Commission”, “Manmohan, Sonia Chidambram – Kaise rahe unka bharam qaim”, “Ban Indian Mujahideen”, “Where is the bullet which killed Mohan Chand Sharma”, “Hindu-Muslim unity Zindabad” etc

Going through the main road through Takia, Chowk and Kotwali, it took 45 minutes to reach the main gate of D.M’s Office. SDM Sadar received two memorandums: one addressed to the Hon’ble President of India and the other to the Hon’ble Governor U.P. Afterwards Dr. Javed Akhtar addressed the assembled Press persons.

Memo submitted to the Hon’ble President through D.M. Azamgarh demanded an apology from the P.M. to the parents of martyred Atif and Sajid in particular and to the Muslim community in general. It further demanded a time bound judicial enquiry in all fake encounters, immediate release of all those arrested in connection to Fake Batla House Encounter and ban on “Indian Mujahideen”, if such an outfit exists.
