New Delhi : Delhi Metro chief E. Sreedharan, who underwent a bypass surgery Thursday, is recovering, doctors at the Apollo Hospital said here Friday.
“He gained consciousness this morning and is recuperating in the intensive care unit (ICU). We will be watching him for a week as is the procedure after a bypass surgery,” senior cardiologist S.K Gupta told IANS.
“His family is also with him,” he added.
Gupta, who is treating the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official, said: “He is being monitored by a multidisciplinary team of doctors.”
Sreedharan was Wednesday rushed to hospital after he developed uneasiness in the chest.
Sreedharan revolutionised the national capital’s transport with the rapidly expanding network of the Metro, work on which started in 2002. He is also lauded for his stint as head of the Konkan Railways under the railways ministry.
