Gandhinagar: US Consul-General in Mumbai Paul Folmsbee has made known America’s keen desire to forge stronger economic ties with Gujarat, an official spokesman of the state government said here Tuesday.

Folmsbee, who along with the vice-consul for political affairs Prashanth Rajan arrived here Tuesday on a two-day visit to the state, was accorded a warm reception by Chief Secretary A.K. Joti.

Joti also briefed them about the industrial development in the state that had made it the “most preferred investment destination”, and about the next Vibrant Gujarat global industrial summit to be held in January 2011.

The spokesman claimed that the consul-general inquired about the role of the state to make the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) a success and appreciated the state’s approach in developing all the six economic nodes of the DMIC in tandem.

On the 2011 Vibrant Gujarat summit, Folmsbee assured the state government of doing everything possible for improving the linkages between the small and medium enterprises in the US and their counterparts in Gujarat.
