Islamabad : A US drone strike Friday killed at least four people in Pakistan’s troubled northwestern tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, an intelligence official said.
The attack was carried out in Tolkhel near Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan district, a stronghold of local and foreign militants involved in cross border attacks on NATO troops.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that at least seven missiles were fired at two vehicles and a compound used by the suspected militants.
“The initial information shows that four militants were killed and a number of others injured, some of them critically,” he said. The identity and number of those killed could not be verified independently as the area is out of reach of media.
