New Delhi : The upcoming metro station at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here has been specially designed for patients visiting it and the nearby Safdarjung Hospital.
The patient-friendly station is being constructed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on the Central Secretariat-Qutab Minar metro corridor.
“As two important hospitals of the capital are located in this corridor, we are expecting 60,000 footfalls a day, mostly of patients. So unlike other stations this one has been strategically constructed,” a DMRC spokesperson said.
This station will have four entrances – two each will link the station to the AIIMS and the Safdarjung Hospital.
“With this facility, people visiting these hospitals will not have to cross the busy Aurobindo Marg for reaching the hospitals. They would be able to reach the hospital gates directly from the metro station,” the official added.
Lifts installed in this station are of bigger size than the usual ones to facilitate patients on wheel chairs.
