Fellowship program on conflict resolution & human security

New Delhi: The Centre for Conflict Resolution & Human Security (CCRHS), a research-based and policy-oriented non-government institution in New Delhi, has announced its first Fellowship Program for 2010-2011. The Fellowships are open to experts, scholars, Ph.D. students, professionals and activists working on topics related to conflict resolution and human security.

CCRHS has invited applications for the Fellowship from individuals working broadly in issues pertinent to the framework of Human Security and Conflict Resolution. “The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide opportunities to those individuals who want to develop a deeper understanding as well as generate new ideas and provide concrete recommendations for further action,” says a release from CCRHS.

The duration of the Fellowship Program will range between 6-10 months. Individuals can apply for grants up to Rs 100,000. The deadline for application is June 30, 2010.

At the end of the program duration, the Fellows will have to produce a 30-40 page report at the completion of their research. An interim report or first draft of the final report must be submitted to CCRHS two months in advance of completion of the study.

Eligibility

* CCRHS Fellowships are open to experts, scholars, Ph.D. students, professionals and activists working under one of the following broader or specific topics:

– Conflict & Politics

– Conflict Resolution & Peace building

– Human Security

– Internal/National Security

– Caste & Ethnic Violence

– Religious Sectarianism

– Left-Extremism and other ideological movements

– Liberation/militant movements

* The submitted proposals must be realistic in scope, clearly formulated and considerate of theoretical and methodological concerns. Proposals can range from social to historical research or be inter-disciplinary including field work, empirical research or literature studies. Projects which include practical policy recommendations will be given funding priority.

Application Process

The CCRHS Board for the Fellowship Award, including academic and non-academic personnel, will review the proposals and make a shortlist from the submissions. The short listed candidates will be called for an interview.

· Research Proposal including detailed research methodology

· Budget (detailed plan for expenditures)

· Timeframe/work-plan

· 2 references

· 2 sample writings (preferably published)
