Jethmalani was addressing the media at a press conference after seeking bail for Shah, former minister of state for home, in a Special CBI court here.

During the hearing before Special CBI court Judge A.I. Raval, Jethmalani opposed the investigating agency’s plea to seek Shah’s custody for 10 days and said that though his client was not given a copy of the chargesheet, it was available with the media.

He argued that the CBI had been given three days for questioning Shah but it was not able to fully utilise it and was now seeking additional time.

The CBI had July 23 produced a 30,000 page chargesheet and accused Shah of murder, abduction and conspiracy in the staged shootout case.

Shah has been in judicial custody since July 25 when he surrendered.
