New Delhi : The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon Tuesday following heated words between the opposition and the treasury benches over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s demands for suspending question hour for a discussion on Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee’s rally at Lalgarh.
As soon as the house assembled at 11 a.m., Leader of Opposition Aurn Jaitley demanded the suspension of question hour for a discussion on the rally in Lalgarh in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Monday.
Members from the treasury benches vociferously protested against this and, in the din, Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the house till 12 noon.
The Congress said Monday that its West Bengal unit had extended “moral support” to the Lalgarh rally that was also attended by pro-Maoist tribal body People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA)
