Sources said the Left leaders including Sitaram Yechury of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, D. Raja of Communist Party of India and Abani Roy of Revolutionary Socialist Party conveyed their concerns relating to the bill including the need to enhance the liability of the nuclear operator.

The Left party leaders emphasised that there was no need for the government to join any international convention for the present. The left leaders are expected to meet Mukherjee again Monday over the bill.

The nuclear liability bill, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha during the Budget session of Parliament, is being examined by the parliamentary standing committee on science and technology.

The standing committee is expected to table its report in parliament Wednesday.

Mukherjee had earlier met senior BJP leaders Tuesday regarding their suggestions on the bill.
