Mumbai : A benchmark index for Indian equities Wednesday ended 233 points higher than its previous close on the back of increased buying in the last 90 minutes of trading.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,067.67 points, ended at 18,282.2 points (provisional), 233.35 points or 1.29 percent up from its previous close at 18,048.85 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty shut shop 1.33 percent higher at 5,486.35 points.
Broader markets indices also ended in the green, with the BSE midcap index closing 0.77 percent up and the BSE smallcap index trading 0.68 percent higher.
