Noor Mohammed Ghoghari, who is also accused in the Popular Builder firing case, made an unexpected appearance before the Ahmadabad sessions court on Wednesday, 18th of August and said he had not given any statement to the CBI. In fact he counter-charged the agency with torture and pressure to extract a statement of their choice from him.

It was Ghoghari’s allegations against some top police officers which enabled the CBI frame charges of extortion against them as well as former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah.

In it charge sheet against all those accused in the Sohrabuddin murder case, CBI had claimed, that Ghoghari confessed that prime accused D.G. Vanzara extorted Rs.40 lakh from him after the Sohrabuddin encounter.

Ghoghari also charged the CBI of putting tremendous pressure on him and Mahendrasinh Jhala, another accused in the Popular Builder firing case, to make statements of their choice, saying that the CBI would help them in the Popular Builder firing case.
