Three held for bogus car loans

New Delhi : Three culprits who fleeced people on the pretext of providing car loans have been arrested in north Delhi, police said Tuesday.

According to police, Ankur Gupta (26), Rajiv Dhingra (30) and Amit Tuli (31) were arrested from Rohini Sunday.

The police have recovered a Santro car, one laptop, 260 passport-sized photographs of different people, three mobile phones and SIM cards, a loan kit and other documents.

They were arrested in connection with a first information report registered Aug 13 by Vasant Kunj police station in south Delhi on the complaint of Bhagat Singh, a resident of Faridabad, Haryana, who was fleeced by Ankur Gupta, posing as Yogesh, a finance agent.

Gupta duped the complainant on the pretext of providing loan to finance his Maruti car. Gupta collected the relevant papers, a file and Rs.50,000 from the complainant and fled.

“As soon as the complainant handed over the sum, he fled from the scene and went into hiding. After conducting several raids, the police nabbed them from Rohini,” police said.

“They admitted involvement in a case of cheating nine people for a sum of Rs.12.50 lakh,” a police official told IANS.
