Chavan met the delegations, many of whom were waiting for an audience since last week, when he set up a camp for the winter session of the state legislature which started in this second capital of Maharashtra Dec 1.

“Since he did not have time to meet each delegation separately, he called them in groups of 10. The chief minister went individually to each delegation, sat and discussed with them their problems and demands and issued instructions to officials,” the aide from his office told IANS.

He added Chavan decided to grant the delegations a marathon three-hour slot, starting at 3 p.m., and ended well past 6 p.m., but not before meeting more than 50 teams.

Top officials from all departments were also present to ensure prompt follow-up action on the chief minister’s directions, the official added.

Among the delegations which met Chavan were those of farmers, tribals, widows, party workers, social activists, academicians, youths, professionals, para-medics and nurses.
