Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government Friday raised reservation quota for tribals in government jobs to 32 percent.
Chief Minister Raman Singh announced the hike in the quota from existing 20 percent, a statement said.
An official said tribals make up to 32 percent of the state’s total population, at present estimated to be around 20.08 million.
The tribal leaders were pressuring the state government to raise the quota in government jobs in proportion to their population. They took out several rallies in recent months to build pressure on government.
