Symposium on ‘Peace, Unity and Equality in the light view of Quran’ held in Lucknow

Lucknow: A terrorist may be Hindu or Muslim by name but should not be linked to any religion. Those spreading terror cannot be termed as followers of any religion. Blaming any religion for terror activities is not justified. But unfortunately Islam is perceived as religion promoting terrorism.

The views were expressed by social worker Laxmishankra Acharya at a symposium on ‘Peace, Unity and Equality in view of Holy Quran’ organized by Al- Quran Institute at Hindi Sansthan here today.

Dr Jameel Ahmed speaking at the symposium

“Islam preaches peace, unity, humanity and communal harmony. Some people who do not understand Islamic preaching and true meaning of the verses of Holy Quran blame that Islam is spreading terrorism across the world,” said Acharya.

Regarding the recent Varanasi bomb blast, Acharya stated that the authorities claim involvement of Indian Mujahedeen in the blast. “It clears one thing that the perpetrators of the crime may be Muslim by name but their motives are completely anti-Islamic, as Islam is against terrorism. A true Muslim is always afraid of God’s wrath, which restricts him from doing evil acts,” he added.

Meanwhile quoting several verses of Holy Quran, Aacharya elaborated that God likes those people who never thinks of harming someone while hates oppressors and evil doers. He added that it is also mentioned in Quran that whoever killed an innocent, killed humanity and whoever saved an innocent saved humanity.

Explaining the concept of ‘Jihad’, Acharya stated that ‘Jihad’ means ‘Holy War’ against oppression, falsehood and injustice and ‘war’ in this is the last option not the first. “Killing innocent persons in the name of religion is not jihad,” he said.

    Speakers at the symposium

Other speaker, cardiologist, Dr Jameel Ahmad highlighted the subject-‘Way of life: Man-made or God-made’ in his address during the symposium. He stated that 99.9 percent of the people living in the world do not know about objectives of their lives, they think that earning money, building houses etc. are objectives of their lives.

“Leading life as per almighty’s will gives real happiness and makes life beautiful and peaceful,” he added. Maulana MM Farooq Khan, who has translated Holy Quran in Hindi language, was also present on the occasion.
