Morton Grove, Illinois: Indian Muslim Council – USA (IMC-USA) last week changed its name and logo. Its new name is Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC). The mission, priorities and area of work of the organization will remain same.
“We have changed our name (formerly Indian Muslim Council – USA) and our logo, but not our mission. Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) continues to be an independent not for profit tax exempt organization committed to promoting peace, pluralism and social justice for all,” said Rasheed Ahmed, president, IAMC.
The IMC-USA changed its name on December 10. Reasoning the change, Mr Ahmed said: “Our new name defines our identity and the geography we work from with more clarity.”
On the occasion of name change that coincided the International Human Rights Day, the group reiterated its commitment to promotion of protection of human rights. “At this occasion of our name change and the Human Rights Day as declared by the United Nations, we reaffirm our commitment to promotion of protection of human rights and human dignity as they are the foundation of freedom, justice and peace,” said Mr Ahmed.
Indian American Muslim Council (formerly Indian Muslim Council-USA) is the largest advocacy organization of Indian Muslims in the United States with 10 chapters across the nation.
The group has also created its new website.
