Regulations on corporate lobbying planned: Khurshid

Chennai : After the storm over taped conversations of public relations firm owner and lobbyist Niira Radia, the central government is mulling regulations for corporate lobbying.

Speaking to reporters on the margins of a seminar organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) here Wednesday, Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid saod the government was mulling a system to regulate corporate lobbying as there was no law nor a draft governing the practice.

Speaking at another seminar organised by the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), he reiterated lobbying was part of the democratic process.

Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of the inaugural session of the second India Corporate Week in New Delhi Tuesday, Khurshid said lobbying was a part of the democratic system but its illegitimate use should be curbed.
