Bharat-Oman Refinery in MP to start production from Jan. 2011

Bhopal: The ambitious Bina Project of Bharat-Oman Refinery Ltd. is all set to start commercial production from January 2011. The construction work on this project is nearing completion. The project involves an investment of Rs.10,300 crore.

Under the project, trial run of the production is being conducted and in all probabilities, the Bina Refinery will go into commercial production from next month. This information was given at a meeting to review the progress of industrial investment proposals here today. The Minister for Industries, Kailash Vijayvargiya chaired the meeting.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of implementation of industrial investment proposals which came up during the different Investors’ Meets, the Minister for Industries, Vijayvargiya directed the concerning officers to speed up the pace of implementation and to make constant monitoring as well.

According to an official spokesman, it was further informed at the meeting that before the Khajuraho Summit-II in October this year, a total of 333 MoUs were inked. Investment to the tune of Rs. 4,71,564 crores is proposed to be made through these MoUs. Further, a total of 24 projects have started production and work on another 18 projects is in different stages of advancements. Also, a total of 53 projects are in the initial stage of implementation. Besides, survey work on 127 projects is in progress. The remaining MoUs have been cancelled for not going operational.

The other important projects on which work has already been launched include Smelter Project and Captive Power Plant to be commissioned by the Hindalco Industries Ltd. in Singrauli at a cost of Rs. 19,000 crores. The company has already acquired private land measuring 2999 acres for the project.

The meeting also reviewed progress of the implementation of 110 MoUs involving estimated investment of Rs. 2,44,851 crores, which were signed in the Khajuraho Summit-II. Of these, work on 74 projects has already begun at different levels, the spokesman stated. ([email protected])
