Campuses must voice against human rights violations: SIO

Ponnani: Campuses of educational institutes must voice against human rights violations taking place day in and day out in Kerala and other parts of the country, said Shihab Pookottur, the newly elected president of Kerala chapter of Students Islamic Organisation of India.

“Revolutions are set from the intense need to resist human rights violations. Silence is serious offence in numerous cases like Endosulphan, Irom Sharmila, Maudani, Love Jihad etc.,” said SIO president.

He also requested the youth and students to voice for the marginalized and downtrodden and to empower such struggles through political and scholastic aspects. He made the statement while inaugurating human rights day celebration at MES College, Ponnani.
