Global air traffic up 8.2 percent in November: IATA

New Delhi : The International Air Transport Association (IATA) Thursday said global passenger traffic grew by 8.2 percent in November as compared to the like period of 2009.

“International scheduled traffic results for November show an 8.2 percent year-on-year passenger traffic growth and a 5.4 percent increase for freight,” IATA said in a statement.

According to the statement, the downturn in the developed markets is being offset by the strong growth in the economic expansion in the developing markets.

Meanwhile, November’s traffic growth was slower than the 10 percent increase in the passengers being carried by airline industry in October, while freight traffic was also higher at 14.5 percent.

IATA further said that the strong end-month growth of 2010 is in line with the predicted profit of $15.1 billion.
