Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress Thursday welcomed the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government decision not to hike fuel prices.
“The meetings (of the Congress core committee and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs) have not taken any decision to hike the fuel prices. That’s good,” Railways Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee told mediapersons at her residence here.
However, Banerjee said she would not create any “confusion” within the UPA government on the issue.
“The price rise is an issue of concern and we all have to work together,” she said.
“We are a pro-people government and we will do everything to control price rise,” said Banerjee whose party is the second largest constituent in the UPA after the Congress.
