PFI’s Muslim reservation campaign reaches Imphal

Imphal: The two-month long National Campaign for Muslim Reservation launched by Popular Front of India (PFI) in Pune on Jan. 31 will reach Northeastern state Manipur next week as the state unit of PFI will hold poster campaign, bike rally and public meetings from February 21 onwards.

Announcing the program at a press conference in Imphal on February 11, state secretary of PFI, Benjamin M. Shah demanded reservation for Muslims in the light of the recommendations of Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission. The Commission recommended 15% reservation for minorities with 10% only for Muslims.

Addressing the press Shah said Justice Rajinder Sachar Committee has described Muslims in the country as socially and economically backward, and to improve their condition Mishra Commission has recommended reservation. The welfare and upliftment of Muslims solely depends on reservation, he said.
