New Delhi: Following the deaths of some 20 mentally challenged inmates in a state-run observation home over the past two months, the Delhi government Monday recommended a slew of measures to improve health facilities in the home.
Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia and Social Welfare Minister Mangat Ram Singhal Monday visited Asha Kiran home for mentally challenged people in Rohini.
“It was observed that around 730 inmates have been put up in the home against the capacity of 350. It has poor sanitation and health facilities,” said Singhal after his visit.
The ministers have recommended the deployment of more nurses, sweepers and helpers in the observation home and for settling up of testing labs and deployment of ambulances.
