New Delhi: The Delhi Metro will open the over-15 km long Inderlok-Mundka line on schedule next month, an official said Sunday.
This line will be opened with 13 trains initially, which will run at a frequency of around five minutes during peak hours, Delhi Metro spokesman Anuj Dayal said.
This line will have 14 stations – Inderlok, Ashok Park (Main), Punjabi Bagh (East), Shivaji Park, Madipur, Paschim Vihar (East), Paschim Vihar (West), Peeragarhi, Udyog Nagar, Surajmal Stadium, Nangloi, Nangloi Railway Station, Rajdhani Park and Mundka. All the stations are elevated.
This will be the first standard gauge Metro line in India as all other lines opened so far have been on broad gauge. Standard gauge lines have a width of 4 feet, 8.5 inches between the tracks while broad gauge lines have a width of 5 feet,6 inches between the tracks.
The travel time from Inderlok to Mundka will be 31 minutes approximately.
